Donors & Community Support

CONTACT: Director, Operations Department

Since it's founding in 1882, the Children's Home of Stockton has relied greatly on the support and goodwill of the community, and reliance on community support and the private sectors generosity continues to be a crucial element in providing the best possible services to children. Currently, less than eighty percent of the CHS budget is financed through state and county funds. Thus, Children's Home must raise a minimum of  twenty percent of it's annual operating budget from other sources, primarily through grants, fundraising activities and the contributions of both individuals and businesses.

Our primary funding sources, the State Department of Social Services and the Department of Education, continue to fund only the most basic services, which do not include "extras" such as recreational opportunities, library books, science materials, arts and crafts supplies, or other essential materials. We must therefore continue to seek alternative methods of funding, primarily in the form of grants and other community support, in order to enhance the learning environment. We are very grateful to the community of Stockton, which continues to extend itself to help us meet the needs of so many disadvantaged and troubled children.
